Remembering Jack

Born on January 21, 1947, in Rochester, NY to John Joseph Butler (passed away in 1958) and Audrey Catherine (Rosenbarker) Butler. John worked as a mechanic while Audrey stayed home to raise Jack, Terry (& Wendy deceased twin). Audrey remarried Alex Sigismondi, together they had Alex, and raised and adopted their cousin Mary. His stepfather, Alex, had a significant impact on his life and he always strived to do his best.

Growing up Jack loved all types of animals, dogs, cats, and rabbits, he also liked watching birds. He enjoyed photography, ice skating, and skiing. He attended St. Rita's until 8th grade then went on to RL Thomas in Webster where he played Trumpet in the band and participated in Track & Field. He graduated a year earlier than planned because he only needed to take English class over the summer.

After high school on July 19, 1966, he joined the Army where he would operate the supply boats during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in July 1968. He worked as a machinist for Bausch & Lomb and as a truck driver for St. Johnsberry.

He was introduced to Mary I. Snellings through mutual friends, who would become his wife in 1994. They enjoyed family gatherings, their vacations in Maine, and watching the Buffalo Bills or the Mets games. Jack & Mary loved to bowl and were on a team for more than 10 years, they loved to sail and play Scrabble. His best friend, Mr. Lopez, was always a part of their adventures. When they would spend their winters down in Florida, he played softball, golfed, and played bocce with his other best friend, Roger. He was an active guy when it came to outdoor activities, like jogging, baseball, motorcycles, sailing, fishing, hunting, skeet shooting, or building and flying his remote-controlled model airplanes.

Jack loved to watch the Andy Griffith Show and Everybody Loves Raymond. He liked to listen to music from the 50's, Jazz, Big Band, and Country. Most of all, he loved his family and spent as much time with them as possible. His children, Wendy, Cindy, Micheal, Bill, & Chris, have blessed him with his beloved grandchildren, Cameron, Molly, Erin, Jayce, Dalton, Grace, Sophie, Bryce, Jessica, Theo, & Ben. He made everyday activities fun, he was easy-going, generous with his time, he was always helping others, especially with their cars, had a big heart, a great smile, and was a silly kind of guy, even wearing his rubber gloves to wash the dishes.

Jack's memory will be cherished and celebrated, he will be deeply missed by all his friends and most importantly his family.
