Remembering Nancy, by Al Fisher:

Nancy (Joslin) Fisher was born on November 28, 1943. Her father, Mead was a fireman, a plumber, and The Chief Plumbing Inspector for the City of Rochester. Her mother, Mildred worked outside the home. Nancy attended Holy Rosary Elementary School and Nazareth High School, where she played basketball. She went on to St. Joseph School of Nursing where she was the class president. She left as a Registered Nurse. Nancy was employed at Strong Memorial Hospital as a Pediatric Nurse from 1964-1975.

In addition to having 6 children, 16 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren, she was a second mother to many of the neighborhood kids.

Nancy loved animals and had a variety of them. She had a Golden Retriever, a 200-pound female Newfoundland dog, a rescued 150-pound male Newfoundland, a mid-sized Terrier, and adopted over a dozen stray cats. Currently, we have a 35-pound black cat called Boo, who showed up at our door on Halloween 10 years ago. Some of the other animals have included Gerbils, Hamsters, an Iguana, a desert Iguana, Rabbits, Rats, a Ferrett, and a foot-long Plecostomus fish that lived for 25 years. Her love for animals is the reason for choosing the Humane Society at Lollypop Farm for memorial donations.

Nancy also loved to drive in our Jeep Wrangler. We would drive to the Adirondack Mountains for lunch and be back by dusk. The family would then receive pictures of our daily drives. We often went off-roading in the woods to find new drives. We put 200,000 miles on our last Jeep and since we bought a new Jeep, we have averaged 1000 miles per week.

On Tuesday, October 24th, Nancy passed away peacefully in her sleep, with me by her side. If you have to go, that is the best way.
