To my extended family, I am so very sorry to hear that Joey has passed. My dad was very fond of him and when the families would meet for events, Joey sure could make my father laugh. I recall how fun he was and very kind. My sincere condolences to all of you.

Dear Mattia family, Condolences and prayers from our family to yours. Really got to know Joe through many clambakes in Syracuse, always a good time. May your good memories keep him close.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I worked with Joe many years ago at the John M. Forster Co. and remember him as a wonderful co-worker who truly a pleasure to work with. I still remember him sitting in the break room every morning drinking his coffee. My deepest sympathy to all of his family.

The photo here really captures the best part of my dear, cool, younger Uncle Joey. Like his sister, my mother, he was very warm, affectionate and a whole lot of fun. He would drive out to Greece at the drop of a hat to bring me back to Irondequoit so I could hang out with Aunt Bev and my beloved cousins. Those countless sleepovers made my teenage years bearable. I remember learning from his great taste in music, i.e, Tina Turner and other R and B greats well before they became famous. My mother loved her baby brother Joey so very much. He was one of the few people who could get her to enjoy life after my father died. We will all miss that smile, that twinkle in those blue eyes. Aunt Bev, Nicole, Mark and David sending you all my love.
