I first met Karen about 40 years ago when I was working at the Acme Metal Spinning Works Café. She was a live wire and source of strength at the same time. We worked the weekends when there was usually a line out the door. It was hard work and we partied just as hard after work.

After we moved on to other jobs, we remained friends and often went to dinner or art openings. San Francisco was a crazy fun city in the eighties and nineties. When she moved to Rochester, I always thought I would see her again, and I did visit her at her lake house which she loved. We went to Schaller’s for hamburgers and milkshakes. Of course, everyone there seemed to know her, and was glad to see her.

Karen Iuppa was kind and loving to everyone who knew her. She was always fun to be around and provided great spiritual advice when things went wrong. She will be missed by many, me included big time. Though Saint Peter might have hesitated for a moment I think Karen said something funny, and he let her in.
