MRS MARGARET YEBOAH (nee OSEI GYAMFI, aka Awura Adwoa)

TRIBUTE BY SLOPSA 1975/77 YEAR GROUP

Our dear sister, MAGGIE, fondly called Awura Adwoa, was one of us, THE CLASS OF 1975/77 @ St Louis Secondary School, Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The bond between the two classes of our year group was beyond comprehension as we were NOT only in trouble together, but attained every achievement simultaneously.

We are writing this tribute because, honouring Maggie’s passing truly means honouring her life; the life we shared together at St Louis and as Slopsans.
In 1975 when we completed our GCE ‘O’ Level examinations, life took us down different paths over the years. But modern technology reunited us in recent years when our year group Whatsapp Platform was set up. Maggie, you were one of the most active participants on this platform and you never missed anyone’s birthday, always ending your messages with your affectionate words, “MUCH LOVE”.

After you returned from Ghana about a year ago, your activities on the platform dwindled and eventually ceased. A “Search Party” was sent after you, only to be told you have been unwell. Together and individually we appealed to God, the Great Physician for your healing, but He who knows best, ushered you into His heavenly kingdom.

Friends are the family we choose. Awura Adwoa, choosing you was the greatest joy and this makes your sudden departure too painful to bear. It broke our hearts to lose you but part of us went with you the day God took you to heaven. IF TEARS COULD BUILD A STAIRWAY, AND IF HEARTACHES MAKE A LANE, WE WOULD WALK OUR WAY TO HEAVEN TO BRING YOU BACK.

Awura Adwoa, your zest for life was exciting and you approached life with such great positivity. You always saw the goodness in people and not once did you join finger pointers and chastisers. Where you fell short you never failed to praise or acknowledge a winner. Indeed, you were dearly loved for your uplifting smile, your soothing calmness and impeccable English language, in fact, everything about you was beautiful. Family was your biggest asset; whilst your husband, children and grandchildren were your pride and joy, your endearing love extended to everyone who you encountered in life. An amazing person like you would be cherished forever, whether in this life or the next one.

For now, our beautiful Maggie the great Music Lover, we can only console each other and lean on one another with one of your special songs, “LEAN ON ME” which helped you out when you first tried your hands at the piano. Awura Adwoa, as you were part of Slopsan Wall of support, we we could lean on you. We would also seek comfort from your favourite memory words, “MUCH LOVE”, whenever we go on the year group platform. We will always cherish the formidable Slopsan bond and oneness for as long as we live.

AWURA ADWOA, OUR DEAREST MAGGIE, DAMIRIFA DUE, DUE NE AMANEHUNU. REST IN THE PERFECT PEACE OF GOD YOUR CREATOR, YOUR LORD, YOUR LOVE, YOUR LIFE, YOUR WAY AND YOUR END, AMEN.

Dora Yeboah Prah
There is a never a day that goes by that I don't think of you. You left us far too soon but you will always be in our hearts. We had a lot of things we needed to do together. We will miss you for family gatherings such as Thanksgiving and Christmas. You had so much to live for and so much yet to do, it still feels unreal being here without you. You were not only my sister in -law but also a friend. I know I have to somehow live with the pain of never seeing your smile or hearing your voice again. Know that I will keep you close to me, no matter where I go or where I will be.
Rest well Auntie.
Dora ( sister in-law )
