Isabell's Life Story

Isabell Cristo was born September 1, 1929, in Rochester, NY to parents Elizabeth and Bartolomeo Papagni. Her parents worked at Kodak and kept busy raising Isabell's siblings: Lucy Joseph, Jack Papagni, Grace Papagni, and Connie Giacalone.

As a child, Isabell loved spending time with her family and playing with her older siblings. As the baby of the family, she always had to wash the dishes after meals. Her brother, Jack, once played a long-running prank on her. He would lightly hit her on the arm in the exact same place so many times that she would keep feeling it for a while even though he had stopped.

Throughout Isabell's life, family was her priority. After meeting Eugene Cristo during a night out to a bar, they eventually married and started their lives together. She was a stay-at-home mom to her daughter, Karen Accorso, and was an active presence in her grandchildren's lives, too. Isabell enjoyed taking care of her grandkids, Cody and Nicole Accorso a couple times a week as they grew up.

Isabell extended her care and kindness to many others, too, including the family dog, Chloe, and all her friends at the community center.

Isabell enjoyed traveling and spending time with her loved ones. She was a frequent visitor to Disney and even got to see Alaska. This past year, she was able to spend 5 months in Florida relaxing in the sunlight and great weather. When it came to the holidays, though, Isabell's priority was always to be with her family.

In her day-to-day life, Isabell participated in a wide variety of hobbies and activities. She attended church weekly, line danced, and was an active YMCA member. Every Monday, Isabell and her friends went to breakfast and on a walk through the mall together. She had a passion for shopping and passed this on to her daughter and grandchildren, too. Isabell regularly socialized at the community center and had a great time playing Skip-Bo with family and friends.

In Isabell's free time, she watched musicals and older movies had her favorite foods (pasta and ice cream) and enjoyed all things Disney-related.

Isabell will be remembered as someone who was universally loved, making friends easily wherever she went. Her sense of humor carried on throughout her family and her grandson always knew how to make her laugh. She was calm and strong-willed, ready to do anything for those who needed her.
