Dave Hawkins Relation to Deceased: College roommate (Geneseo) Bob was a helluva guy. We were on the same floor in Ontario Hall our Freshman year and we shared an apartment with Carl Harper our senior year. I remember our senior spring break. Bob, myself, and a frat member all crammed into my tiny Ford Fiesta and made the 24 hour non-stop trip from Geneseo to Florida. The car was so small that whoever sat in the back had to lay down. On that trip we spent a week at my cousin's apartment in Ft. Lauderdale and then a week in the Bahamas. We enjoyed a lot of great drinks, danced with a lot of pretty girls, and just had our last hoorah before graduation. I had always jostled with Bob that I was the faster of the two of us. Whether it be on the softball field for intramurals or the broomball team.....we were walking on this white sand beach in Nassau and I brought it up again to him. Him having enough of me, he said, "All right big guy, let's do it right here", so we raced on the beach......his first three steps put him at top speed and he literally embarrassed me right there. From then on I would never challenge him again. He was a carefree guy and I remember him during that trip just being content. He loved life and took it in stride. Here's to Bob! As we look back over time We find ourselves wondering ..... Did we remember to thank you enough For all you have done for us? For all the times you were by our sides To help and support us ..... To celebrate our successes To understand our problems And accept our defeats? Or for teaching us by your example, The value of hard work, good judgement, Courage and integrity? We wonder if we ever thanked you For the sacrifices you made. To let us have the very best? And for the simple things Like laughter, smiles and times we shared? If we have forgotten to show our Gratitude enough for all the things you did, We're thanking you now. And we are hoping you knew all along, How much you meant to us.
