History

Verna was the youngest of 13 and survived all her siblings. She graduated from Charlotte High School and then married our father Bud DeVos. She was strong willed and hard working. She worked at American Laundry and retired from Bausch Lomb. She was a very giving person. Every time you visited her, she made sure you left with a bag of goodies (food, soap, cheese, crackeers, etc) She took care of may children throughout her life and took pleasure in feeding any stray animal that came into the yard, especially birds cats. One of her hobbies was raising and selling dogs- Registered Toy Fox Terriers. These dogs brought much joy to her and her entire family. She enjoyed music, especially Lawrence Welk, Engelbert Humperdink, Jim Neighbors and Eddy Arnold. She loved to dance. She told stories of how she loved to horse back ride when she was growing up. We all know her for her fabuolous crocheting quilting skills. Verna crocheted all of her life and made many amazing table cloths, afghans and pot holders, shared them with anyone that she came in touch with. She made quilts for everyone using scraps from old dresses, gowns, etc. She loved playing a card game(skip-bo) and played with anyone that visited her. She could play for hours, right up to the last week of her life. She would always help her opponent because she felt bad if she won (which she did most of the time!). Most of all, Verna enjoyed her family. Bud Verna created a large family; five daughters (Diane, Jean, Judy, Alice Janice; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren 6 great-great grandchildren)
