Frank A. Albano

Gates: September 27, 2023. Frank is predeceased by his wife, Caroline Albano. He is survived by his children, Gina (Matt) Tavino & Scott Albano; grandchildren, Alyssa Tavino & Frank Tavino; siblings, Bob (Kathy) Albano, & Cathy Onorato; sister-in-law, Virginia Albano; brother-in-law, Carmen Surace; sister-in-law, Sandy Vicaretti; several nieces, nephews, cousins & dear friends.

Frank's life story will be shared during his visitation at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane, (Between 390 & Long Pond Rd.) Sunday, October 1st, 12-4 PM. His funeral mass will be celebrated, Monday, October 2nd, 9:30 AM at St. Theodore's Church, 168 Spencerport Rd. Imediately following, Frank will be laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Remembering Frank

Frank A. Albano was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, and would give the shirt off his back for his family and friends. Frank was born on August 24th 1934 in the home of his parents, Ralph and Philipine Albano, on Brooks Ave. He was one of eight siblings (Anthony, Phill, Marie, Ralph, Bob, Cathy, and Larry). Frank always knew a new sibling was on the way when he would come home to his aunt cooking in the kitchen and the doctor's car in the driveway. He and his brothers learned their love of hunting from his father, who would catch anything from pheasants to rabbits right in their own yard. Frank attended Our Lady of Good Council Elementary School. He attended Madison High School for one year, before leaving school to start working for a brick company near his house stacking bricks, to help support his family.

Frank was drafted into the US Army in 1957, he served during peacetime and was stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas and Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He worked as an expert rifle driver, testing cannon ranges, and in his down time he would go into Mexico where he and his friends could watch the bull fights and buy tequila for 25 cents. During his service, he met his lifelong friend Dave Lapan, from Michigan.

Upon leaving the service, Frank worked at Keegan Utility Contractors Inc. as a fuel truck driver, and snow plow driver in the winter. In his free time, Frank would hunt, fish, and bowl. He was member of the St. Lucy's Mixed Bowling League, and it was there he met his future wife and love of his life Caroline Vicaretti. They married on October 17th 1964 at St. Anthony's Church. Their first home was not far from Caroline's parents on Saratoga Ave, in the upstairs apartment of Mrs. Falvo's house. Family was important to Frank and Caroline. They spent a lot of time with both of their families, to the point that in-laws became more like true brothers and sisters, and they each gained a second set of parents. In 1965, they built their home on Avanti Drive and moved to Gates, NY.

On December 18th 1966, Frank and Caroline were blessed with their daughter Gina. Every Sunday, Gina and her dad would go to Mass with Frank's mom Philipine and end their mornings at Philipine's house for breakfast. Frank and Caroline were blessed with their son Scott on October 1st 1971. Frank would be Scott's personal goalie during their many "hockey games" in the unfinished basement. After the passing of Philipine, Frank and Caroline brought Frank's father, Ralph, to live with them without thinking twice. This is one of the many ways Frank gave for his family, they would later go on to the same for Caroline's mother, Angie. Frank's compassionate heart did not just stop with his in-laws. His home was an open door to all of his friends and family, creating an environment that felt like home to anyone who walked through the door.

In 1977, Frank went into business with partner, Al Ciarfello, whom he met through his father in-law Frank, and opened Bayside Paving Company. Over the years, Frank and Al not only did many large jobs throughout the city of Rochester, but made life long friends with many of the employees who worked for the company. Bayside was a second family to Frank and he treated it as such. The annual Christmas party was something Frank not only cherished, but continued to cook for and attend even after retiring and selling the business, up to the present day.

Frank cherished the holidays with his family, and he and his wife hosted many eventful ones. One of which being Thanksgiving of 1990, when Frank's soon to be son in-law, Matt, asked if he could ask Frank's daughter Gina to marry him while he was stuffing the turkey. Frank welcomed Matt with open arms, and when Matt proposed to Gina over thanksgiving dinner Frank gained a new son. Frank was a huge part in helping Matt and Gina build their dream home. Once Matt and Gina had their children, Alyssa and Frankie, Frank became a loving grandfather.

Frank and Caroline would constantly help with watching the grandkids and were always at all of their events. There was not a boxing match, basketball, or lacrosse game that Frank and Caroline were not at. Even after the passing of his wife, Frank continued to be ray of love and sunlight for his grandchildren. He supported them in all they did and his pride in them showed every time he talked about them.

Frank's love and compassion is something he passed on to both his children and grandchildren. His selflessness was known by all who knew him, and we were lucky to have him in our lives for so long. Frank will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
