Obituary

May 2, 2022, age 79, Beverly passed away peacefully after a long fight. She is survived by her husband Donald Wallace; children, Mark Cody, Jen (Hunter Foster) Cody, Michael Wallace, & Shelli (Joe) Johnson; many cousins & dear friends.

Beverly lived in the Rochester community her whole life. She graduated from Holy Family Grade School and Nazareth Academy. She worked as a realtor in the community for over 35 years.

Beverly's life story will be shared during her visitation, Friday, May 6th, 4-7 PM at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (Between 390 & Long Pond Rd.). Her funeral service will be celebrated, Saturday, May 7th, 10 AM at the funeral home. Immediately after her service, she will be laid to rest in Maplewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Sato Project, 130 Water St., Brooklyn, NY 11201, or to www.thesatoproject.org

Beverly liked people. She had a knack for making friends wherever she went. She was very loyal and loving, and they all loved her right back. Her family and friends may also describe her memorable strong, badassery personality. Beverly was hard to forget, and you always knew she was coming in her Scion toaster car, decorated to the hilt for special occasions and holidays.

An only child, born and raised in Rochester, Beverly grew up on Glide Street, raised by her mother, Mary, her stepfather Ralph and much influence from her aunts. Though she had no siblings, she had many cousins in her extended Portuguese family. In high school she made her mark in the girl gang called "the Jades."

As a young girl, she was a drum majorette and once won an Annette Funicello look-alike contest. In her adulthood, Beverly worked hard and had an array of job experiences: A credit union runner, a clerk, an attorney's secretary, a waitress, a house cleaner, she even delivered machine parts and dental appliances. Most knew her for her 35 years as a real estate agent.

She met her husband Don working at Mr. Steak where he was her boss. They married in 1978 and went to celebrate in Perkins Restaurant with their Best Man and Maid Honor. Don found out soon enough that Beverly had a mind of her own and often didn't follow the rules which kept things interesting. They shared 4 children; Mark, Michael, Jen and Shelli.

The Wallaces vacationed all over, places like Portugal, Madeira, the Pocono mountains, Cape Cod, Ogunquit, Las Vegas and Connecticut. They always made it a point to travel to Cape Cod every year where they enjoyed watching their daughter and son-in-law perform at the Cape Cod Playhouse. In Vegas and on cruise ships Beverly would be parked at the slot machines fulfilling her love of gambling.

Beverly loved to dance, whether it was disco, country western, swing or jive she was moving to the music! If she wasn't dancing, she'd be shopping. Whatever she was doing, she had fun doing it. She gave her dogs names connected to tv or movie stars, like her yorkies, "Walker" and "Trivette"/Texas Walker Ranger or "Bruno"/Bruce Willis' band name, or her rescue dog from Puerto Rico named "Cha Cha" from the movie Grease.

If you tried Beverly's Bologna Stew or Red Chicken Soup you were among the lucky, she was a great cook. She always had her favorite beverage, Coca Cola and favorite treat, Chocolate to round out a meal. After dinner she'd watch one of her tv shows; Lawrence Welk, Name that Tune, Special Victims Unit, and of course she was always up for Lifetime and Hallmark movies (she'd watched them all more than once!). Other movie favorites included any Bruce Willis move, Hello Dolly! And A Star is Born.

Beverly met everything head on, taking the bull by the horns. She'll be remembered by her loyalty and generosity by all those who knew and loved her.
