Gary Krauss

Hamlin: July 5, 2024. Gary is predeceased by his wife, Patricia Heberger-Krauss. He is survived by his daughter Victoria Mammarello; grandson, Oliver McClarrie; siblings, Dawn (Clyde) Lamb, Susan Mucher, Linda (Bob) Nieman; sisters-in-law & brothers-in-law, Susan (Chris) Laragy, John (Bea) Heberger, & Diane Heberger. Several nieces, nephews, cousins & dear friends.

Gary's life story will be shared during his visitation, Sunday, August 4th, 1-4 PM at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (Between 390 & Long Pond Rd.). His funeral service will be celebrated Monday, August 5th, 10 AM at the funeral home. Immediately following, Gary will be laid to rest in White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Greece Rotary, PO Box 16106. Rochester, NY 14616 in Gary's memory.

Remebering Gary:
Gary Krauss, born on June 4, 1950, in Warsaw, NY, was known for his generosity, wit, and commitment to his community. He grew up in a close-knit family with his parents, George and Doris Krauss. George was a successful self-employed general contractor, and Doris was a dedicated homemaker who raised four children. The Krauss family shared a tradition of summer camping at Rainbow Lake in the Adirondack Mountains, which Gary fondly remembered.

Gary attended Perry Central High School, where he was active in the marching band, playing the tuba, and enjoyed playing ping pong. Following grade school Gary attended Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where he earned a bachelor's degree in business. At RIT, Gary developed lifelong friendships with Allen (Wally) Wallace, Ray Wager, and Bruce Treat. The four friends bonded over their shared love for fishing, golfing, Buffalo Bills games, and enjoying cocktails together.

Professionally, Gary was a successful self-employed CPA. His dedication to his career and community was evident through his active membership in the Greece Rotary Club, where he was honored with the Paul Harris award. Gary took great pride in his work and in giving back to his community.

Gary met his wife Patty Herburger through a newspaper ad, and they married on August 4, 2001, aboard the Spirit of Rochester boat. Gary was the proud father of three children from previous relationships: Anna, Johnathan, and Victoria. He and Patty relished their time together at their Lakehouse, where they enjoyed entertaining guests, relaxing with cocktails, and watching the waves. Gary and Patty's home was a testament to their love for each other and their enjoyment of life.

Gary's hobbies included golfing, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He was known for his humor, which brightened every occasion. His favorite saying, "It's 5 o'clock somewhere," and his personal motto, "Krauss on the Lake," reflected his easygoing nature. Led Zeppelin and Carly Simon were among his favorite musicians. He also had a fondness for TV shows like Law & Order, The Sopranos, and mob movies.

Gary's life was marked by both joy and challenges. The passing of his beloved wife Patty and his own declining health were difficult for him. Despite this, his legacy is one of warmth and generosity. His mentor Bob White, his wife Patty, and his daughter Victoria had a profound impact on his life. Gary's friends, family, business, home, and community were his priorities, and his successful accounting firm stands as a testament to his professional accomplishments.

Described as generous, smart, witty, caring, and fun, Gary's life was a blessing, and his memory will be treasured by the many friends and family who knew him. His absence will be deeply felt, but the joy and laughter he brought into the lives of those around him will be remembered always.
