GREECE - Passed away suddenly on May 30, 2024. Marilyn is predeceased by her husband, James L. Curtis and her parents, Johanna K. & Alfred S. She is survived by her children, Kenneth J. (Dorothy) Curtis and Kathy A. (Stephen) Monks; grandchildren, Sara (David) Wyman & Jennifer M. (Alex) Moin; great grandchildren Lillian & Demetra Wyman; cherished sister, Shirley M. Alexander; nephews, Richard (Nancy) Alexander, Paul (Kathy) Alexander, Tom Alexander & Jim (Courtney) Alexander; niece, Sherylanne Diodato; grandnieces & grandnephews, Richie (Alicia) Alexander, Ted (Emily) Alexander, Dan (Ashley) Alexander, Mary Beth (Tim) Seither, Carolyn Alexander, Emily (Devon) Collins, Dalton (Emma) Alexander, Michael Alexander, Liam Alexander, Colin Alexander, Michael Alexander & Harrison Alexander; great-grandnieces & great-grandnephews, Rocky, Jamie, Annabelle, Lillian, Juliana, Logan & Lena; dear friends & neighbors, & her beloved cat Holly.

Marilyn loved life to its fullest. She deeply loved raising her children, Kathy and Ken. As her children became older, she expanded her desire to help others outside of the home by starting the Sunday School program at St. Lawrence School. She worked at Small World Daycare Center and was the Director of Developmental Disabilities for Heritage Christian Center. Marilyn treasured her weekly video calls with her son and her daughter-in-law, Ken and Dorothy. Marilyn and her sister Shirley shared the strongest bond that two sisters could share. Shirley was always there for Marilyn, sharing holidays, birthdays, breakfasts, life's ups and downs, and most importantly her love for her sister. Her dear friend, Toni Marshall, whom Marilyn cherished like a sister, shared many years of friendship filled with laughs, tears, travels, memories, and love. Marilyn loved the theater, especially musicals. She cherished these outings with her very special niece Sherylanne. They shared many laughs and much love as Marilyn became like a second mother to her.

Marilyn loved spending time with her GAO (Girls' Afternoon Out) group. These special ladies; Karen, Pat, Carol, Gisla & Joanne, brightened her life with their monthly luncheons, birthday celebrations, emails, and support. Marilyn's sidekick, her cat Holly, was so precious to her. Their bond will be forever. Her granddaughter, Jennifer, will continue to carry on Marilyn's love for Holly. Marilyn was passionate about her gardens, her rescue cats, and being a fashionista with her many sparkly and glittery outfits. Our fancy lady will be missed!

Recently, Marilyn celebrated her 85th birthday with family and friends. It was a wonderful celebration for a wonderful lady. Through the magic of FaceTime, she was to be able to celebrate the wedding of her granddaughter, Jennifer to Alex. While she could not make the trip to Maine for the wedding, she was able to celebrate it in her home with her sister Shirley and her niece Sherylanne.

Marilyn liked to say, "Every day is good, but some days are gooder." and "This too shall pass." These reflect the positive way that Marilyn lived her life every day.
Her family would like to thank her friends and neighbors, especially Pat, Lori, & Leora, for all the love and support they gave so generously to Marilyn. Her family would also like to extend a sincere thank you to Unity Dialysis Center for their compassionate care.

Marilyn's life story will be shared during visitation, 4-7 pm on Tuesday, June 4th at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 5th at St. Lawrence Church, 1000 N. Greece Rd. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
