Jennie J. "Jeanne" (Massetta) Slade was born on July 8th, 1930, to parents Andrew and Ida Massetta in Rochester, NY.

Her mom had to learn to read and write English and was employed at Gerber Baby Food. Jeanne's stepfather Sam enjoyed writing music and playing the mandolin, while her mother loved family dinners, cooking, dancing, and singing. Her mother had the greatest impact on her life. Jeanne had a total of 7 siblings, 4 brothers, Andrew, Joseph, Vincent, and Anthony, as well as 3 sisters, Nikki, Rita, and Eleanor.

As Jeanne was growing up, she too enjoyed dancing and music much like her mother. She also loved to bake, attend family picnics, travel, going on cruises, fishing, musicals, ice skating, and roller skating. One thing, however, Jeanne did not like was a dirty house, she always kept a meticulous house.

Growing up she went to the Rochester City School district during grade school then continued to Nazareth Academy. Jeanne started her career as a secretary for St. Joe Paper Co. After moving on from there, she became a lunch lady while working at Spencerport Central School District, and eventually became a Eucharistic Minister. That's when she really let her inner strengths and abilities shine as she loved to cook, bake, and just care for her community.

Jeanne was introduced to Patrick C. Slade by mutual friends, Aunt Tootie, and Uncle Joe. Jeanne and Patrick hit it off and went on to get married and have 3 children of their own, Martin, Kevin, and Karen. As a family, Jeanne and Patrick shared their love of travel with their kids, often visiting Beverly Lake and taking fishing trips together.

Jeanne had many quirks and sayings she was known for which included "ask your father" or "I'm going to tell your father!"

Her family recollects some of her favorites, like the TV show, Emeril Lagasse where she learned to perfect her cooking and baking skills (not that she needed to!), and her love for music by Josh Groban.

Anyone who knew Jeanne knew how much she loved her family. She always made sure everyone had what they needed. That was just the type of person she was, she always put everyone first. She was caring, loving, energetic, giving, and a proud matriarch. She was a hard worker and had tremendous faith in the lord. Jeanne was always there to help anyone, listen, or support in any way, she will be greatly missed.
