John R. "Jack" Ort

August 02, 1935 - May 20, 2023

Obituary

May 20, 2023. Jack is predeceased by his wives, Irene Ort & Carol Ort; sister, Joan Murphy. He is survived by his loving daughters, Kathleen Mousso, Karen Spicer, Christine (Danny) Velte, & Lisa Charland; adored grandsons, Marc (Adriana) Mousso, John Mousso, Timothy Mousso, Evan Spicer, Nicholas Velte, & Austin Charland; great-grandchild, Amelia Mousso; siblings, Ruth Vit, Ronald Ort, & Elaine DeRue; several nieces, nephews, & dear friends.

In addition to his love of his daughters and grandsons, Jack was renowned for his creativity. He was a "Jack" of all trades and was known for his ability to create or repair anything. He retired from Delco in 1993 as a skilled tradesman. He liked making things for other people to make their job easier. His legacy includes more detailed hand-crafted items than one could "beat with a wooden stick". He enjoyed driving by Delco and pointing out the structures that he built.

He loved his daughters and made sure they knew it. He adored being around his grandsons and was incredibly proud of them. Along with attending literally thousands of hockey games and sporting events, he spent special time with them camping, fishing, canoeing, and shooting targets; creating memories that will last their lifetime.

Jack was humble, humorous, and heroic. He was kind to everyone and always saw the positive side of things. He put the needs of others above his own. His silly, quick-witted sense of humor always caught everyone off guard. He made everyone smile by always laughing and making jokes. He is a hero to his family. He worked hard to provide the best for his family, taught the importance of hard work, provided a sense of security, and showed unconditional love.

Although Jack was loved and will be sadly missed, he left behind laughs, smiles, and humor that will be remembered for years to come. His legacy is the qualities and morals that he instilled in his daughters and grandsons. "I have four loving daughters and six wonderful grandsons, I have done everything I've ever wanted to do and traveled everywhere I wanted to go. I'm one lucky man."

Jack's funeral mass will be celebrated, Saturday, May 27th, 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2400 W. Ridge Rd. Immediately following, Jack will be laid to rest in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to a charity of one's choice.
