Remembering Douglas McCarthy

Douglas McCarthy was born on Sunday, August 29, 1965 in Rochester, NY. He was welcomed into life by parents, Eunice and Robert. Sadly, Robert passed away while Doug was still very young. Eunice worked as a secretary for the Italian American Center and was a wonderful mother who had a great impact on her son's life. Doug grew up as a momma's boy, and they remained close until her passing. Doug's family also included sister, Cyndi DiManno, and brothers, Mark DiManno, Matt DiManno, David McCarthy, and James McCarthy.

In his youth, Doug attended Thomas Jefferson High School, where he excelled in football and baseball (he also pretended to be good at skiing). After completing his education, Doug began a career as a car salesman. Outside of work, he enjoyed cooking, golfing, watching movies, fantasy football, and drinking a Corona with lime. For years, Doug participated in a golf league at Salmon Creek and he would never miss a Denver Broncos game. He was also a big fan of kicking back with a Netflix show or his jailbroken Firestick.

Doug was a loving father to three kids; Aaron, Morgan, and Chelsey McCarthy. Together, they enjoyed trips to Lake George, sharing their favorite meals, and making each other laugh. Doug's children were the most important thing in his life, and he was happy to become a grandfather with the arrival of his grandson, Dominic. He took pride in his children's accomplishments and was an encouraging, lighthearted, uplifting presence in their lives.

Doug will be dearly remembered by his friends, too, many of whom date back to his time in high school. He was always posting on Facebook about his new recipes and cooking endeavors and made sure to keep up to date with everyone's photos and posts. Doug was a jokester with a great sense of humor who made the best of the worst situations. He was willing to help a friend in need and would do anything he could to keep a smile on their face.

As his family recalls, Doug frequently marveled at just how quickly the years fly by. His kindness and sweet smile will forever be missed.
