Susan Camille Harman

PHOENIX - Susan passed away on October 13, 2022, in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 81. She is predeceased by her husband, Milton Harman. She is survived by her sister, Rebecca (Nate) Toms, and her three daughters, Carol Cook, Rosalind (Ted) McGuire, and Camille (Andrew) Gaydos. She has seven grandchildren: Malcolm (Lexis) McGuire, Lydia McGuire, Peter (Hannah) McGuire, Christopher Cook, Taylor Cook, Rachael Gaydos, and Chloe (Kristo) Kondakçi, and her great-grandchild Nash McGuire.

She was a wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Susan was born in Burlington, North Carolina on August 12, 1941, to Ralph Walton Hartis and Margaret Alice Tingen Hartis. She grew up in Burlington, NC where she attended elementary and high school - graduating high school in 1959. Sue attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida from 1959 to 1961 and then transferred to Elon University, Elon, North Carolina where she graduated in 1962 with a Bachelor of Arts with a High School teaching certification. At Florida Southern, she met her future husband Milton "Milt" Lowrie Harman. They were married in 1962. Milt's career in the Marines led them to Camp LeJeune, North Carolina in 1963. Later they moved to Quantico, Virginia, Camp Smith, Pearl City, Hawaii, Camp Kaneohe, Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, and Pensacola, Florida. Returning to civilian life, they moved to Geneva, New York where they raised their three girls. Sue relocated to Spencerport, New York in 2005 and later to Phoenix, Arizona in 2019. During her life, she served on several extensive Christian mission trips around the world which brought her to Honduras, the Philippines, Ecuador, and China. Sue had a heart for community and multi-generational living. She loved the book of Psalms, and one of her favorite sayings was "The Lord is so faithful, and I am in His keeping."

Susan's funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 1st at 6 pm at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane, Rochester. Private interment to follow.
