Anthony J. Paris
GREECE - Anthony was born October 1st,1928, deceased September 30th, 2022. Sadly, yesterday we said goodbye to our loving papa one day shy of his 94th birthday.
Survived by his loving wife of 71 years Dolores Maccallini Paris; children Amy (Stephen) Blowers, Ann (Steve) Wallace, Margaret Paris, and John (David Sperduto) Paris; grandchildren, Christina (Norm) Dole, Kate (Jamie) Georges, Anthony (Tara) Vasta, Laura (Reid) Wallace, Marc (Chelsea) Vasta; great-grandchildren, Emma, Nora Dole, Annabelle Georges, Christian, Natalie Vasta; sisters, Victoria Dispenza and Carmella (Patrick) Passero; many nieces, nephews and friends. Anthony is predeceased by; his parents Joseph and Angelina Paris; brothers, Joseph (Josephine) Paris, Steven (Mary) Paris, & Frank (Rose) Paris; sisters, Josephine (Pasquale) Nuccitelli & Mary (Gerald) Sullivan; brother-in-law Robert Dispenza; sisters-in-law, Marina (Paul) Infantino & Gilda Maccallini.
Anthony was born and lived in a small, 3 bedroom house (one bathroom!) on Karnes St. in Rochester, NY with his parents and seven brothers and sisters. Their house may have been small, but it was full of love and homemade pasta!
He graduated from Thomas Jefferson high school in 1946. He then joined the army during the Korean War. When he returned home, he went to college on the GI bill and received his bachelor's Degree from Syracuse University.
He became a lifelong General Motors guy and worked his way up to Superintendent of Manufacturing at Delco Products before being promoted to Plant Manager in Laredo, Texas where he spent three years, and then finally to the Vauxhall plant in Dunstable, England before retiring in 1986. He spent his retirement years golfing with his lifelong and devoted best friend, Joe Crispino, enjoying his grandchildren and being at home and traveling with his wife Dolores. During his retirement years he learned new skills, such as cooking and washing the kitchen floor!
One of Papa's favorite days of the year was the day after Thanksgiving, when "the boys" would take him out to breakfast before going to chop down the legendary Paris Christmas tree. He loved the Paris family picnic on the 4th of July, all were expected to attend. Every year over a hundred people attended and without fail he would sit with his sisters, Carmie and Vicky, and be so proud of the close family we had become.
Anthony was an active member of the West Central Kiwanis Club of Rochester. Special thanks to friend and neighbor Sam Tuminellli, who treated our dad as his own father. Our parents called on him and his wife Carol many times when they needed something. For that we are forever grateful.
Anthony's life story will be shared during his visitation at the funeral home, Sunday, October 2nd, 1-5 PM, 1411 Vintage Lane, (Between 390 & Long Pond Rd.). His funeral mass will be celebrated, Monday, October 3rd, 9:30 AM at St. Lawrence Church, 1000 N. Greece Rd. His burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Rochester West Central Kiwanis Club, PO Box 16313, Rochester, New York 14616 in Anthony's memory.
