Remembering Marcia Ziolo

Marcia was born on August 29, 2022 in Rochester, NY. Her parents, Helen and Charles Logel, owned a bar and restaurant; Charlie's Tavern in Rochester and the Walnut Inn in Scottsville. Marcia's family also included brother Charles Jr. and sisters Mary Lu "LuLu" and Marion Patricia "Patty." For 12 years of Marcia's young life, her Grandma S. and Uncle Bernie helped raise her, which forged a close bond between them and made a lasting impression on Marcia.

Marcia attended grade school at St. Theresa's. Later, she went on to high school first at Bishop Kearney, then at Franklin. Her first job was at Monroe County Social Services. After moving on from her first job, Marcia excelled in the field of retail. She worked for 35 years at Sibley's (later Kaufmann's and Macy's) and was employed at Target for 10 years after that. During her time at Sibley's, Marcia met Kathy Kenney and they became lifelong friends. They went to parties together, spent time with family, and were always there for each other.

If she wasn't at work, Marcia could be found doing the things she loved. Marcia enjoyed bowling in her younger years. More recently, she could be found playing cards with Audrey, Sally, Sue, Kim, and Elaine. Marcia liked listening to oldies and Polish music, and even took Polish dancing lessons. She was a fan of Gray's Anatomy and General Hospital, but nothing could compare to the Steve Harvey Show. Marcia was a huge fan of Steve Harvey - both the show and the man - she even had his pictures proudly displayed on her fridge!

Marcia could start a conversation with anyone (using the gift of gab she got from her mother) and had a caring and compassionate nature that put people at ease. She unconditionally loved her family and would never hesitate to babysit and take people to their appointments. Even her apartment reflected the love she had for her family - it was always full of pictures - especially of Bob, Lynn, Stephanie, and Jason. Unfortunately, on May 15, 2011, Marcia lost a cherished member of the family she held dear. When her baby sister Patty passed away, it was the hardest time in Marcia's life. However, even during the hardest of times, Marcia's kindness and generosity never wavered.

As her family reflects, "Marcia will be truly missed. Her passing was a shock that we will never get over. Never miss the opportunity to be with your loved ones - you never know when it will be the last time. Rest in Peace, Marcia - we all love you and were grateful for your love. You will always have a special place in our hearts!!"
