Lawrence (Larry) Alessi

ROCHESTER - Passed on May 21, 2022, from cancer. Born in Rochester December 7, 1942. Predeceased by his loving mother Theresa Bono Cosmano. Larry excelled in academics earning many awards, particularly in the sciences, throughout his years in high school and college. He attended Benjamin Franklin High School and then went on to serve his country in the Navy in the Vietnam War. He worked as a commercial artist while attending the Rochester Institute of Technology graduating with honors from the Applied Sciences program with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After college, he went on to work as an engineer at Gleasons. Larry was an accomplished artist and a gifted musician who also designed and built beautifully crafted instruments, including a 12-string guitar and banjos.

Larry is survived by his sister Valerie Alessi Davis, brother-in-law Roger Davis, nephew Mark (Rebecca) DeLaney, nieces Caren (Philip Monte Verde) Davis and Allison (Scott Shamp) Davis, several cousins, great-niece Julia and great-nephews Joshua, Dominic, Toby, and Blake. A special thank you for those who helped bring Larry home to spend his final days with family: Kim Penny RN (Rochester Regional Health Hospice), Lisa Licata LMSW (Hildebrandt Hospice), Andrea Stephens VA social worker, and VA Fire Chief Chad Powers, and also to Matthew Murray, VSO.

Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery with military honors on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 11 am, please meet at the Lake Ave gate to the cemetery.
