I'm thankful that I got to know Donna first when she was my student at Brockport and later when she was my colleague. I love students who are also characters, and Donna definitely was fun in that way and kept me on my toes (but always in a positive way)! And she was a wonderful colleague. She cared about all of her students and courses, and was very selfless in devoting a lot of effort to being a great teacher. So I'm not surprised to see these wonderful tributes by some of her students. Although she left a great legacy, I was really sorry to hear this news and I wish all my best to her family.

My family want to thank the faculty and students that sent a tribute to Donna. She loved her job, the faculty and especially the students she taught.
I would like to send my tribute to my sister Donna. There is so much I would like to tell you. The week before you went in the hospital this last time, you called me and we talked and laughed about things, when we hung up, I turned to my daughter and said I forgot to tell Aunt Donna I loved her like we normally did. I figured next time I talked to her, I would tell her. But the next time is when you were in the hospital and under an induced coma and never came out of it. I hope you heard me Donna. I know you were sad when I moved to Florida, but we stayed close and talked or text often.
As sisters do, we laughed, cried, gossiped, and talked about mom and dad. We fought about stupid things, but then laughed it off. You were my cheerleader, you were always cheering me on even when I didn't think I could do things, but you thought I could. I was able to talk to you about anything.
The best New Year's I have ever had and every New Year's I think about it, was 2000 when mom had her operation and we stayed at mom and dads to help out, everyone else had plans. Mom and dad ended up going to bed early and you and I brought the New Year in and we both looked at each other laughed and continued playing scrabble. But I enjoyed myself so much that night.
There are so many more things I want to say to you, but I hope you know how I feel, I miss you so much and it has only been two weeks that you have passed. I am praying for you everyday. You have touched my heart. I love you very much now and forever.

Ms. Donna, Thank you so very much for all of your help and encouragement this semester. Thank you for being the one professor that I could count on when I was having a rough time managing my job, school and my four children. You are the type of teacher I aspire to be everyday. Your kindness and compassion were beyond measure. I miss our correspondences of you just checking in and vice versa so much already. To Donna's family, she spoke of you guys especially her nieces at the beginning of the semester to all of us. In our small amount of time together through our correspondences on at school she made a huge impact on me and spoke so much of you all. I pray for you all and Ms. Donna and pray that you find peace in knowing that she loved you all very much. I will always remember her kindness towards me and her help with anything I needed. Thank you for sharing her with all of us students and thank you for allowing us the opportunity to show our love for your beloved Donna. With a Heavy Heart I say Rest In Paradise Ms. Donna until we meet again, Jessica Lowe

Donna influenced the lives of well over a thousand students during her time at SUNY Brockport. Her kindness, patience and expertise prepared students to be intelligent consumers of advertising and media. Her legacy will live on through these students. We will miss her at Brockport.

Aunt Donna - You were taken from us way too soon. We were making up for lost time and it didn't seem enough. I have talked to a few people and they say I sound like you and not one person has anything bad to say about you. In fact they say you have had an impact on them. Kylie feels bad that she didn't ask for help with her classes, but she is trying to be independant, just like you. I know you are excited because you get to see grandma and grandpa again. Fly high and rest easy. We love and miss you so much already.

Aunt Donna-There are no words to describe the loss that I am feeling right now. I know we haven't seen each other physically for quite some time because of the distance but I always looked forward to listening to your phone calls with my mom and how I would shout out something in the background and you would laugh. I'm going to miss your voice and your text messages and how much you loved us. You had such a huge impact of the lives of so many and I'm not sure you knew that. Please know that you will always be in my heart. I know that you are happy up in heaven with Grandma and Grandpa, Jet, Boomer, and even Trevor. I am truly devastated. I Love You and Miss You terribly. Rest In Peace.
-Love Always and Forever, Misty Jo
