Obituary

WEBSTER - Passed away on January 30, 2022. Predeceased by his parents, John & Carmella Nuccitelli; brother, Bob Nuccitelli. John is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Diane (Cravotta) Nuccitelli; sons, Chris Nuccitelli, Michael (Kathleen) Nuccitelli & John (Lisa) Nuccitelli; grandchildren, Gina, Ashley (Chris) Skipper, Michael Nuccitelli Jr, Alexandra (Brian) Whelan, Olivia, Julia & Adam; great-grandchild, Sloan Skipper; brother, Larry (Nancy) Nuccitelli; brother-in-law, Lou (Linda) Cravotta; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen (Mary Carol Schaedel) Cravotta. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

John was a tool maker that worked in many shops. In 1965 he started Nationwide Tool and Die with his brother Bob. They operated their family business until 1999. John also served his country in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary. Throughout his life, John focused his time on many philanthropic endeavors. Some of the notable examples were the Seneca Park Zoo, International Wild Water Fowl Association and Aquinas Institute. For 45 years John was the driving force and heart and soul of the Aquinas Institute Hockey Team. He was the Mr. Hockey of the Aquinas program. Mr. Nuch is known and loved by everyone who ever played the sport. Most importantly he was humble, loved his family deeply and always placed others before himself.

During his time with the Aquinas Hockey program, John started the first Section V Senior Hockey game and played a critical role in creating the JV Hockey program in Monroe County, as well as starting the school's lacrosse program. He also started the Sports Booster Club at Aquinas, a group that would one day be responsible for the fundraising and construction of the new gymnasium. For these reasons (and many more) John became a member of the Aquinas Hall of Fame.

John excelled in many leadership positions. He always gave back to the community and was involved in philanthropic efforts that included the building of the veterinary clinic at Seneca Park Zoo and being president of Italian Charities. John also acted as the President of the Rochester Tooling and Machining Association, the Brooklea Country Club, and the Webster Dunkin Donuts Gang. When he wasn't busy fulfilling these roles, John tended to an extensive collection of animals, waterfowl, koi fish, Bonsai, Japanese gardens, and orchids. He was an active hobbyist, too, building a life-sized diorama for his G scale trains in conjunction with the Genesee Valley Train Club and curating an extensive collection of Department 56 villages. John loved watching the New York Yankees, playing golf, and going fishing with his buddies.

John's life story will be shared during visitation, 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, February 4th at the funeral home. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday at St. Rita's Church, 1008 Maple Dr, Webster, NY 14580. The service will be live-streamed and may be watched at www.saintritawebster.org. Entombment in White Haven Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in John's name to the Aquinas Institute, 1127 Dewey Ave, Rochester, NY 14613.
