Gregory R. Masceri 

Greece- February 1, 2021, at the age of 67. He is survived by the love of his life, high school sweetheart & beloved wife of 45 years, Michelle (LiButti) Masceri; children, Gina (Michael) Collura, Anthony Masceri, Gregory (Lynn) Masceri, Jr. & Laura (Louis) Gatto; grandchildren, Yianni, Gregory, Elijah Diakomihalis, Mason Masceri, Micah Collura, Maya, Malayna, Gianna, Tessa Masceri, Angelina, Mila & Cecilia Gatto; father-in-law, Michael LiButti; uncles, Basil & Joseph Sanguedolce; cousins, Russ (Liz), Joanna Sanguedolce & Sue (Robert) Lee; brothers-in-law, Alfred, Michael (Laura), Joseph (April), Mark (Phyllis), Andrew (Peggy) LiButti; several nieces, nephews & dear friends. Predeceased by his mother, Marion Cook; mother-in-law, Olga LiButti & beloved grandparents Joseph & Rose Sanguedolce. 
Greg grew up in the 10th Ward was known as Coach but bled the silver & black of Greece Chargers. Grand Budda of the Budda Foundation of America, he leaves his Budda friends to carry on & many other dear friends.  He always did it "My Way".  

Per NYS regulations all guests are required to wear a mask and hand sanitize at the funeral home. 

Greg's life story will be shared during his visitation at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (Between 390 & Long Pond Rd.) Monday, February 8th, from 6-9 PM. His funeral Service will be celebrated, Tuesday, February 9th, 10 AM at the funeral home. His interment will be in Holy Ghost Cemetery

Greg was born in Rochester to his mother, Marion Cook. He lived with his grandparents, Joe & Rose Sanguedolce on Seneca Parkway. He learned to swim from his Aunt Shirley who lived across the street from him. He grew up very close to his Uncles Russ, Joe & Basil, and cousins Rosalie, Russell, Susie & Joanna. As a young child, he was given a coloring book of all the Presidents from his neighbor, which sparked his love of history & politics. At age 10, he started to work at his family's restaurant, The Chessman.

Greg attended Marshall Highschool where he played football, lacrosse, baseball and KPAA softball. When Greg was 16, he met the love of his life, Shelly LiButti, 14. Shelly knew from the moment she saw him in his yellow shirt, blue pin stripe pants and goatee that he was the one for her, it was in that moment their 50+ year romance began! Greg used to skip school to play Jeopardy with Shelly's mom, Olga and would regularly hang out at Al's Stand with his best friends Bishop, Borelli, Brooks, Costa & Newton.

After Highschool, Greg graduated from MCC and went on to Brockport College. He left college to help run his uncle's political campaign for Monroe County Legislature. He then went into real estate with his uncle's Basil & Butch.

Greg and Shelly were married on September 6, 1975 at age 21 & 19, he then left his job for the life insurance business working for Prudential. He became the general manager at Prudential under Paul Cromey.

In 1976, Greg and Shelly welcomed their first daughter, Gina and then their first son, Tony in July 1978. Greg's career path led him to Florida, even though Shelly was then 37 weeks pregnant, she followed. In October 1979 their youngest son, Greg was born in Ft. Lauderdale. In 1980 they moved to Buffalo and welcomed their last child, Laura in August 1981.

Greg's career was successful, he won countless awards which included trips to London, Hawaii & Acapulco to name a few.

In 1985, they built their first home, 33 Mathew Lane. It is here where they decided to raise their 4 children. Greg coached all the kids sports and was quickly known lovingly to everyone as "Coach". He coached GCB Baseball for many years and led the Greece Chargers Football team to 4 championships. He was the V.P. of the Greece Athena Booster Club.

Greg loved to sing, especially Frank Sinatra, and man was he a great singer! He sang Sinatra all over the county and even through parts of the world. No party was complete with out 'New York, New York' & 'My Way', which was his anthem. He was the Grand Budda of the Budda Foundation of America. This foundation raised over 100K for sick children. He loved to travel to St. Martin & Florida. Greg was a published Author. He had way too many late nights out at Bathtub Billy's, Bernard's Grove and Antonietta's.

He was so proud of his kids and their accomplishments throughout their lives but was even more proud of his 12 grandchildren. He enjoyed watching his grandsons win State Championships, NCAA Titles & World Championships. He loved to brag about his granddaughters dancing achievements and soccer.

Greg was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Everyone that knew Greg, loved him! He was a kind soul, a funny guy that could always sing and party the night away. He will be greatly and deeply missed by everyone whose life he touched.
