It is with deep sadness that the family of Marie E. (Camelio) DiRaimo announces her peaceful passing on January 23rd, 2021 at the Wegmans Family Cottages, Greece New York.

Marie was born December 26th, 1929 to her parents Anthony and Genevieve Camelio. The eldest of five children, Marie grew up on Driving Park Ave and attended Holy Rosary School and Nazareth High School.

She sang and danced on stage through her teen years in costumes made by her mother, an expert seamstress. At 19 years old, she was crowned Queen of the Genesee Valley. She then entered Brockport State Teachers College, earned her Teacher's Certificate, and spent many years teaching second grade at Saint Margaret Mary's Elementary School and School #27. She greatly valued her role as an educator and delighted in the opportunity to guide children in their "emerging reader" phase.

Marie eventually met the love of her life, Vincent DiRaimo Esq. They married in 1953 and together had five children. Marie was a dedicated mother, and to her continuing joy, a doting grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to raising her family, Marie was an accomplished singer, writer and musician, passions she continued to pursue even in her advanced age.

As with all her life's work, the foundation of her writing and musical gifts was her steadfast and profound faith. One of her greatest joys in life was sharing her love for God with others through poem and song, including by publishing a book of poetry at the age of 90, with the help of her granddaughter, Taylor. (Available in Amazon books; "Seasons on the Journey")

Marie found joy in ministering to others through prayer meetings, volunteer efforts, choirs, and other outreach activities in every faith community she was a part of in Florida and in Rochester.

Our family deeply appreciates the care, kindness, and compassion shown to Marie by her Wegman Family Cottages family as they cared for her on all levels, especially during the challenges of these difficult months of covid; you were family to her when we couldn't be physically present and made her feel loved and safe.

In her own words, Marie shared her wish to be remembered this way:

"I've asked the Lord for the gift of unconditional love for my friends and family. I try to give it to all. I love Jesus so much and I know I'll be with him when He calls me home."

She is home with Him now and at peace. Rest in love, our beautiful Marie!
