Obituary

Alan Edward Janus was born March 26th 1946 to Alfred Janus and Manetta (Lapple) Janus in West Irondequoit, NY. His father Edward was a conservative banker and stock broker and his mother Manetta was an incredible baker with a great sense of humor which was inherited by Alan. He graduated from Irondequoit High School ('64) and then earned a degree in accounting and finance from the University of Miami ('67) and was a huge Hurricanes fan.

In his early career, Alan was an accountant in Midtown for the Summit Federal Credit Union. He finished up as an independent insurance broker with his own agency which was not an easy task. He enjoyed his work because most of his clients were also his friends. Alan possessed a high degree of mechanical ability that kept him busy remodeling his house. He was a perfectionist and there was nothing he couldn't do when it came to home improvements.

Family was everything to Alan. He married his love, Judy Anne (King) on November 26th, 1971 in Rochester, NY. They made a happy home in Greece, NY where they raised their three children.

Alan is survived by his wife, Judy, children, Jennifer Anne (Jeff), Michael Alan (Denise) and Elizabeth Suzanne. He adored his 6 grandchildren, Hunter Storm-Jackson, Brenden Michael, Faith Elizabeth, Ava Grace, Aiden Michael, and Autumn Olivia. In particular, he loved going to their school and sporting events and taking them out to family dinners.

Alan had a brief battle with cancer that he faced head on just as he approached everything in life. He passed away peacefully on April 21st, Easter Sunday surrounded by his loving family and friends. Alan was preceded to heaven by his parents.

Alan's life story will be shared during his visitation, Friday, April 26th, 4-7 PM at Bartolomeo and Perotto Funeral Home,1411 Vintage Lane. His funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 27th at 9:30 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 3003 Dewey Avenue followed by his burial at Riverside Cemetery, 2650 Dewey Avenue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center, 3111 South Winton Road, Rochester, NY 14623 in his memory.
