History

Joe was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, stationed in Japan Korea. He was a retiree of the Monroe County Office of Probation, where he worked as a probation officer. He also worked part-time for many years selling men`s clothing at National, Edwards McCurdy`s. Joe`s greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. In hs prime, he was an avid tennis player. He loved his vegetable garden and grew his own grapes to make wine. He as a volunteer for several organizations, including Compeer. His life-long passion was music, during his service in the Army, he played trumpet while stationed in Korea. Although never formally trained, his gorgeous bass-baritone voice was professional-level quality. He sang in many choruses including the Rochester Oratorio, the Greece Choral Society, the Eastman Rochester Chorus and many church choirs. After the devastating death of his wife, Joe adopted a 4 year old cocker spaniel at the Lollipop Farm. He named the dog "Brownie". He wanted to save a mature dog from euthanasia. Brownie was his devoted companion for four years and has now found a loving home with his next door neighbors, the Merkels. In recent years Joe patronized the Tip Top Restaurant, where he dined daily after Sue`s death. He was known as "Father Joe" by the staff and other patrons and will be missed by them and us all.
